All abstracts must be submitted electronically through the official MICOLLAC 2027 abstract submission portal. Authors are advised to read the following guidelines carefully before preparing their submissions.

Each submission must include the following components:

• The title should clearly reflect the focus, scope, and central argument of the proposed paper.
• Titles must not exceed 50 words.
• The submitted title will be used in the conference programme and related materials; therefore, authors should ensure that it is accurate and final upon submission.

Authors must provide complete information for all contributors, including:
• Full name(s) of author(s), arranged according to the preferred order of appearance in conference materials.
• Institutional affiliation(s).
• City and country of affiliation.
• Email address of the corresponding author.
• Identification of the presenting author.
Please ensure that all authors who should appear in the conference programme are included during submission. Names omitted from the submission form may not be included in the final programme or author index.

The abstract should provide a concise overview of the proposed paper and demonstrate its relevance to the conference theme and/or subthemes.
Each abstract must:
• Be written in clear academic English.
• Not exceed 250 words.
• Present the focus, objectives, research context, methodology or approach (where applicable), and key argument(s) or expected contribution of the paper.
• Clearly indicate the significance of the research within the relevant field of language, literature, or cultural studies.
Authors are encouraged to avoid general descriptions and ensure that the abstract communicates the specific contribution of the proposed presentation.

Authors must select the discipline that best represents their submission:
• Language
• Literature
• Culture
Authors must also select the most relevant conference subtheme. Where a submission engages with multiple areas, authors should select the subtheme that most closely corresponds to the paper’s central argument, research focus, or methodological approach.
The selected discipline and subtheme will assist the MICOLLAC 2027 Committee in organising the review process and programme structure.

Authors must provide up to 5 keywords that represent the main concepts, approaches, themes, or areas of study addressed in the submission.
Keywords should:
• Be separated by commas and arranged in alphabetical order.
• Capitalise the first letter of each keyword.
• Reflect specific concepts relevant to the research.
Example:
Archetypal Criticism, Carl Jung, Ecocritical Psyche, Hydrological Landscapes, Sea Folklore

In support of Universiti Putra Malaysia’s commitment to sustainability and impactful research, MICOLLAC 2027 invites authors to identify any relevant United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) connected to their research.
Authors may select one or more SDGs that best correspond with the focus, outcomes, or broader implications of their submission.

Authors must indicate their preferred mode of presentation during submission (Oral Presentation / Poster Presentation)
The final presentation format will be confirmed by the MICOLLAC 2027 Committee.

The presenting author must provide a brief biodata for inclusion in conference materials.
The biodata should include:
• Current institutional affiliation.
• Research interests.
• Relevant academic or professional expertise.
The biodata should not exceed 80 words.

Where applicable, co-authors should provide individual biodata in separate paragraphs, with each biodata entry not exceeding 80 words.

All submitted abstracts will undergo a review process by the MICOLLAC 2027 Committee.
Submission of an abstract does not guarantee acceptance for presentation. The corresponding author will be notified of the outcome (accepted or declined) via email.
Authors will be notified of the outcome of their submission on a rolling basis, typically within 2–3 weeks after submission.

The MICOLLAC 2027 Committee reserves the right to:
• Request revisions or clarifications before acceptance.
• Reject submissions that do not comply with the submission guidelines.
• Reject submissions that fall outside the conference theme.
• Revoke acceptance for submissions containing inappropriate or unsuitable content.
• Suggest an alternative presentation format where appropriate (e.g., changing an oral presentation to a poster presentation).

By submitting an abstract, authors confirm that:
• The submission has been approved by all listed authors.
• At least one author will register and attend MICOLLAC 2027 to present the accepted paper.
• Permission is granted for accepted submissions to be published in MICOLLAC 2027 electronic and/or printed conference materials.

Before submitting, authors should ensure that:
☐ The title is within the 50-word limit.
☐ The abstract does not exceed 250 words.
☐ The appropriate discipline and subtheme have been selected.
☐ Five keywords have been provided in alphabetical order.
☐ Author names and affiliations are complete and correctly entered.
☐ Presenter information has been identified.
☐ Author biodata does not exceed 80 words.
☐ All authors have approved the submission.
☐ At least one author is available to register and present if accepted.
